Teaching
My approach to teaching draws on my background in educational research, prioritizing opportunities for active learning, assessment sequencing, and skill-development. I take an integrated approach to instructional design and course development, sequencing course themes, activities, and assessments to ensure opportunities for meaningful feedback relevant for culminating assessments. Low-stakes assignments providing feedback on component skills ensure that all students have opportunities to develop skills as writers and communicators through the assignment sequence. I have taught a medium-enrolment course in the mandatory political theory sequence, as well as two capstone honours seminars in International Relations. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have taught courses virtually as well as in-person. I am the 2024 recipient of the International Studies Association's Early Career Instructor Excellence in Teaching Award, and a co-winner of the 2023 Queen's Principal's Teaching Award for Promoting Student Inquiry. Earlier in my PhD, I received the uOttawa Award of Excellence for Teaching Assistants in recognition of my work in introductory large-enrolment International Relations courses.

Mon approche de l'enseignement s'appuie sur ma formation en recherche pédagogique, en privilégiant les possibilités d'apprentissage actif, l'enchaînement des évaluations et le développement des compétences. J'adopte une approche intégrée de la conception pédagogique et de l'élaboration des cours, en organisant les thèmes, les activités et les évaluations des cours de manière à garantir des possibilités de retour d'informations significatives et pertinentes pour les évaluations finales. Des devoirs à faible enjeu fournissant un retour d'information sur les compétences des composants garantissent que tous les étudiants ont la possibilité de développer leurs compétences en tant que rédacteurs et communicateurs tout au long de la séquence de devoirs.
